| CELL SORTING (FACS) |
 |
Flow cytometry provides an incredibly flexible
method for characterisation of cells in sus-
pension. Fluorescence activated cell sorting
(FACS) allows selection of cells on the basis
of e.g. surface, cytoplasmic and nuclear
antigens, GFP expression, DNA content, cell
cycle phase, apoptosis characters, etc, etc.
The FMI FACS service uses two instruments:
the FACSCalibur, a two-laser machine allow-
ing two light-scatter parameters and four
fluorescence channels to be measured, and
the MoFlo high-speed cell sorter equipped
with 3 lasers.
